Suturing skillsAbout this course
This one-day practical hands-on workshop aims to provide remote health professionals with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be able to safely assess and manage:

  • the principles of triage
  • basic suturing and
  • the application of backslabs within a pre-hospital environment


Learning Outcomes
Provide an understanding of:

  • The principles of triage
  • How to triage using the Australasian Triage Scale (ATS)
  • How to triage in a mass casualty setting using the SMART Casualty Triage Pack
  • How to prepare and process for wound assessment, cleaning and treatment in the remote setting
  • Suturing techniques
  • How to stabilise a fracture by applying a backslab
