About the Workshop
A one day practical hands on workshop, this workshop aims to provide remote health professionals with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be able to safely assess and manage:

  • the principles of triage
  • basic suturing 
  • how to apply a backslab within a pre-hospital environment
Learning Outcomes

Provide an understanding of:
  1. The principles of triage
  2. How to triage using the Australasian Triage Scale (ATS)
  3. How to triage in a mass casualty setting using the SMART Casualty Triage Pack
  4. How to prepare and process for wound assessment, cleaning and treatment in the remote setting
  5. Suturing techniques
  6. How to stabilise a fracture by applying a backslab
