ImageBrief Biography
   

Karen is part of the PHCRED NT programme. After graduating as a nurse and working in various clinical positions in Australia and internationally, Karen has been for the last twenty years working in community health in the urban and rural settings. This includes forensic nursing at Berrimah, as a midwifery educator and as a child and maternal health nurse.  Karen has been working with PHCRED since 2003 and is responsible for the PHCRED Enewsletter. She works collaboratively with a number of health services agencies in primary health care activities.

Evidence Based Practice Interest group: Community Health

Research Interests

Evidence Based Practice, social marketing and health promotion, knowledge transfer, community development, quality and safety in primary health care and project evaluation.

Industry/community/prof acti/interests and affiliations

She is a member of the Northern Territory Child and Family Nurses Association, the Northern Territory Council on Safety and Quality in Health Care, the Australian Council for Health Physical Education and Recreation Association and Course Advisory Group Graduate Diploma Child and Family Health (Charles Darwin University).
Karen is also active in a number of school based community groups including sports and music.
